General info
The
name of the Open Nordic Acro Paragliding Championships is DOWNTEAM
Challenge. The arena for the competition will be right outside
our main landing Draklanda and Skysport paragliding school.
This place is chosen because of its perfect spectators’ area with the
beach and the nice grass area. This is also where the pilots get the
best altitude over the water when you fly out from the Åreskutan or
Hummeln. 
The
competition runs over four days, with two planned runs per day. We wish to limit the
number of participants to 40. The
judges will judge according to the rules and according to the FAI cat2
rules.
The
maneuvers will be performed in an imagined box(1) over the water right outside Draklanda.
Alternative box(2) is outside Holiday Club.

Draklanda is the official landing in Åre.
The
transport to take-off will be either with the cable car (on the middle
top of the map) to the take-off
1000m SYD
(910m altitude difference), or with a minibus to the take-off
Hummeln
(510m altitude difference), depending of the wind force and direction.
The take-offs in Åre are in very good standard with either grass or
cloth cover and they can take a large number of gliders next to each
other.
This year we will have some other
specialised competitions giving even more show for the public,
bringing out the little extra joy from the pilots, and simplisity to
the competition..

challenge" is this year organized by the local hang- and paraglider
club "Åre SDFK"
Within this club you find the same people that organized the 2006 and
2008
comp, and some new faces.

deeply involved in 2006 and 2008 will this year be the meet
director, as well
as working with the press before the competition. |

Gustavsson
being a
begynner at paragliding, she is not as to organizing events.
Educated at Campus Åre, event
and kommunication, she is perfect for the task, and proved that two years
ago as well. |
Organizing commettee:
 Karin Andersson is a respected member of the border in the local
club, as well as a well proven organizer. She will make sure that
all the logistics details work well, as well as beeing the
important link between the club and the competition. |

and one of the best in Sweden. Wants to have a word on how to
oraganize DOWNTEAM challenge. |
