WHOW. The weather improved from yesterday. We had a nice final 5th
run, and could finish the competition in glory.
After the last run, we had the videocompetition, and in the end the
fantastic pricegiving and the champagne ceremony. Results here.
We will continue to update this web with photos and videos.
The commercial video competition was won by: Matsa and Lina, with the
video: Åre chocklad PIPPI.
The first price was a GoPro WIDE camera sponsored by paraglid.)air.

Very windy today. Theforcast said good weather, but we had
lenticularis in the sky, and low airspeed on the pilots that flew. So
the beginning of the day was cancelled after walking down from the top
of the mountain in hope of finding lower winds lower down. No sucsess.
20:00 we tryed again.
The raft was moved to Holiday Cluc to give Club Mosquito a good show.
The wind had decreased during the day,butwhen we got totakeoff, it
increased again. After almost 1 hour waiting, we started the
run,butafter 3 pilots, the run waschanged to an Expression Session.
4th pilot flew, and hitso strongsinkthathe landed 200m down the hill
on the road.
Afterthatonly one more pilot flew out to do an expression session.
A very nice day except for flying. Club
Mosquito sponsored us
with a dinner buffe that tasted marvelous.
Many of the pilots was also buisy making a video for the video
competition. Tomorrow we will choose a winner.
Tomorrow the winds
are supposed to be weak again. Crossing fingers. Last day tomorrow (sunday
9.Aug).
-07.August-
We had a fantastic day yesterday. Today it was good but not perfect.
Sunny but a little bit turbulent. Thermals was the reason that some
pilots got good altitude, other not so good. But we had 2 valid runs,
and the danish pilot Dennis Sørensen really showed everybody that he
is now a world class pilot.
Take a look at the results here.
In a few moments we will have a live concert here, and the party is
on. For the flying show we plan an expression session at 19:10 at
Draklanda same place as the concert.

The weather in Åre is SICK. Suddenly the sun pops up and everybody is
running around in shorts. Whow.
We had 2 runs in the Nordic Open today, and 1 run in the Water touch
competition.
We will put out the results tomorrow morning, as the files were
forgotten at the super dinnerparty we had, sponsored by BROKEN in Åre.
The food was just as superb as the weather.
Just to tease you
with the results. Fredrik Lindholm won the first run, and Ove Tillung
won the second run. Dennis also flew very good in the two runs, and
even if Pål Hammar Rognøy did a bad first run, he is climbing again
now.
Without telling who
is first in total, I can tell you that the top 4 pilots at the moment
are: Ove, Dennis, Pål and Fredrik L.
Tomorrow morning we
will tell you all about it.

festival area is getting closer to the point of being ready for the
competition and and the festival. The raft is on the water, the big
Lierne-bakeri tent is up. Next is the VIP-tent, the massage tent and
the PA-system and get more flags and banners ready. We also got the
final call from BULA that they will join the sponsor team. Jiha.

We have put together the best musicians in Åre and formed a jamband.
They have had big problems finding a name for them selfes, but for now
we will call them "Röy".

-16.June- We had a very nice meeting with the chief of the restaurant at Holiday
Club in Åre. They will sponsor us with free food and party. So we will
be a party of the MOSQUITO CLUB Saturday night. "Longest Swoop" comp
will be held at the beach outside Holiday Club as a part of the party
show.
The BROKEN pilotdinner will be moved to Thursday or Friday evening.

Just to make it official. The DOWNTEAM challenge is the forst official
Swedish championships in acro paragliding. We got the final
confirmation a couple of weeks ago from the Swedish Airsport
Federation. The Paragliding Federation said yes a long time ago, but
we needed the last OK to really make it official.

Pilotregistration is now OPEN. Please read the different formats
before you enter. Only Swedish pilots can X the Swedish Championships.
All pilots can X the Water touch competition. Even the non acro
pilots.
International acro pilots should X both "Nordic Championships" as well
as "Water touch".
-19.March-
"Loongest Swoop" concept have changed, and is now called "water touch
competition". The competition will consist of several different
formats. We will also move the landing in this competition in most of
the runs to the raft. Better show for the public, and better safety
for the pilots.

The Nordic Hang and Paragliding Commitee have now confirmed that
DOWNTEAM challenge will be the Nordic Championshipd as well.
-28.February-
We asked to be a part of the Norwegian-Cup in acro paragliding, and
the KKPG-akro said yes. This will garantee us lots of norwegian pilots
(and the Norwegian team)
joining the comp. Perfect. This will also garantee more ranking points
for the participants in the World Ranking.
Our goal is
also to be the official Swedish Championships (1'st year after two
unofficial events) and the Nordic Championships (2'nd). We are still
waiting for an answer in this matter.
